King King & special guest Laurence Jones announce March 2016 UK Dates and play Liverpool

King King are on a roll.   Faced with their army of fans and armfuls of awards, it’s hard to believe that Alan Nimmo (vocals/guitar), Lindsay Coulson (bass), Wayne Proctor (drums) and Bob Fridzema (keys) have come so far, so fast.  As Henry Yates of Classic Rock Blues notes, “ King King are the hottest draw in British blues-rock”. Yet there’s no smoke and mirrors behind their five-year rise: just killer songs, performed with true passion, by a fist-tight line-up. Right now, the Glasgow-based band stand on the brink of their busiest period to date, preparing to pull the trigger on their hotly anticipated third album, ‘Reaching For The Light’, and bring the music to fans across Europe. "Our schedule is so busy," laughs Alan. "But you've just got to run with it". In short, there's no time for backslaps, even as King King reflect on an astonishing early run. As a measure of the band's impact, consider their five victories at the 2014 British Blues Aw...

Tattoo Touch Up At Crystal Skull Tattoo Studio

I've always found tattoo studio's very daunting, And not very welcoming places, which is how I come about being stuck with a dodgy home tattoo for so long!! My Sister recommended Crystal Skull Tattoo Studio  32A Station Road, Queensferry where she had recently had her tattoo done. Walking into the tattoo studio I instantly recognized the beautiful young lady with the bright pink hair who was sat behind the counter as Kate or Pinky as i called her!! Small world I thought as I asked "Ain't you the Lady who's hosting the Tattoo Convention at The Tiv in Buckley" looking surprised she replied "yes". A very small world indeed I had been helping promote Kate's Tattoo Convention via my Radio show on Radio Deeside so it was great to put a face to the name. We quickly got chatting, I was keen to know what the studio offered, Kate explained how the studio offers Lazer removal, body piercing, as well as tattoo's and aftercare advice. I'd ho...

A Visit To Urban Coffee Lounge Queensferry

Those who know me well will know my deep passion for good cake!! I call it a passion because I just love cake, but with good cake has to come amazing coffee. So when I was contacted by Richard Lavender who told me he had recently opened a coffee lounge in Queensferry. I was keen to check the place out. When I told Radio Deeside's main man Barry Dale about the visit he quickly pulled rank expressing how he had to come along and also check out the cake selection!! On arriving at Urban Coffee Lounge I quickly noticed how spotlessly clean the place was, everything neatly in its place. The smell of coffee hit me just as I reached the counter, I opted for the cappuccino, Barry, on the other hand, decided on a nice mug of tea with one eye closely on the cakes!!! There is a choice of seating area's within the coffee lounge as well as a seated area outside, The traditional table and chairs also lounge style chairs with coffee table or there is a bar style seated area with h...

Hue and Cry come to Flintshire - 18th February

Hue and Cry burst onto the UK music scene in the late 1980's with the outstandingly successful albums ‘Seduced and Abandoned’ and ‘Remote’. This period saw the band produce some of their most auspicious hit singles such as ‘Labour of Love’, ‘Violently’, and ‘Looking for Linda’. Their award winning style of intellectual, yet appealing pop songs, fused with their unique brand of soulfulness gave rise to their continued success as the band advanced ‘full-steam-ahead’ into the nineties, releasing acclaimed work which includes the chart‐storming Top Ten album ‘Stars Crash Down’. Pat and Greg Kane made a triumphant return in 2008 with their first pop album in sometime ‐ the much applauded ‘Open Soul’ which boasted a combination of the band’s classic ‘pop-soul’ sound, coupled with fresh and on occasion ‘stripped down’ production. Extensive UK touring supported the release of ‘Open Soul’, and in February 2009 the band released of a definitive selection of their earlier work including ...

An evening with Howard Jones Solo (The Songs, The Piano & The Stories) announces February 2016 UK Tour!

It was in 1983 that Howard Jones first burst upon the contemporary music scene with his very English songwriting, pioneering synthesizers and thought provoking lyrics.  He set out his manifesto in his very first single ‘ New Song’. The lyrics called on the listener to challenge their preconceived ideas, to see both sides and ‘throw off your mental chains’. New Song was recently used in a pivotal scene in ‘Breaking Bad’ where Aaron Paul’s character Jessie Pinkman questions if he wants to ‘play by the rules’. New Song peaked at number 3 in the UK singles charts. Along with ‘New Song’, The first two albums, ‘Humans Lib’ and ‘Dream into Action’, brought Howard a host of hits including ‘Things Can Only Get Better’, ‘What is Love?’, ‘Pearl In The Shell’, ‘Like to Get To know You Well’, ‘Hide And Seek’ (performed at Live Aid), ‘Look Mama’ and  ‘No One Is To Blame’, which reached No.1 in the US. Howard has sold over 8 million albums across the globe and is one of a select grou...
